Groundhog Day 2015

This year I will be doing Groundhog Predictions offline with my fourth graders.  District technology changes made maintaining this site from school more difficult.  I have personally contacted the teachers who did the project with me in the past.

This free six-week unit includes the format for science experiments: Question, Prediction, Materials, Procedure, Data, and Conclusion.  It includes worksheets for each section.

It was still pretty frosty this morning at my house.  It's barely 35 degrees.  Will spring weather come soon?

2014 Groundhog Conclusions

On February 2, 2014 the groundhog predicted six more weeks of winter weather.  Although we had a few days that reached upper 50s, we definitely had winter weather.  The coldest temperature we recorded with 19 degrees.  The warmest temperature we recorded was 50.  We had little snow, but plenty of rain.  This is typical winter weather for the Seattle area.

We conclude that the groundhog told the truth this year.

I forgot to mention that yesterday there was ice on my windshield and today there was even more.  It may get to 60 today, but it is still more winter than spring.

I know many parts of the country received snow over night.  I think the groundhog told the truth this year.
